On Saturday, I arrived at the Break and Enter party early to interview Jesse Somfay for his amazing new release "A Catch in the Voice" on Pheek's label Archipel. Jesse and I got started right away as the rest of the set-up crew finished the last minute details around us. I must admit I was a bit nervous and self-conscious about being recorded, hopefully with more practice it will become easier and less mechanical, but I hope you'll enjoy listening to our exchange. His new album will definitely be making it to my top 20 list this year.

It was interesting to learn that Pheek and Jesse found each other on-line and have been friends for years. I also met my close electronic music friends the same way. After the interview, sound check took place with Pheek giving us a taste of the superb tunes we'd be hearing later that night. The evening started off a bit slow, but eventually picked up still leaving enough room on the dance floor to bust it. Pheek's unique sound design and melodic dancefloor gems got everyone using their dancing shoes.

Mikael Stavöstrand delivered what he does best; a uniquely distinct set of wavering layers and evolving deep minimal percussion patterns that melt, twitch and tickle your mind in all the right ways. And last, but not least Stefny, who knocked my socks off. I chatted with her earlier in the night and she was so down to earth and easy to speak to. I can't believe I haven't listened to her until that night. Her minimal grooving dancefloor tracks kept me later than my body could physically handle, but it was just too good to leave.

Break and Enter parties continue to make Toronto a spectacular place to live for digesting the best in Techno. With this stellar off-the-hook line-up, it was disappointing to learn the promoters lost money due to poor attendance. Please support your local community so parties as amazing as this can continue to exist.

I have been a fan of husband and wife duo Celer since 2006, and have been fortunate enough to follow their intimate journey to success on livejournal where I have watched them get married, perform and overcome personal obstacles. Together, Will and Dani have created a number of handmade self-releases and now their talent can be found on several labels. A few weeks ago they were listed as album of the week on one of my favourite on-line music websites boomkat. I highly recommend their gorgeous ambient drones, a must have for lovers of Gas.

The Mole is all love and soul creating the best in funky beats and hip shaking. After a long wait in the line outside the Lotus Sound Lounge, I arrived just in time for the last MUTEK_10 tour set with The Mole. The Mole never disappoints and was in fine form. This guy channels divine love and lets it radiate through those in his presence. I appreciate the way he helps me embrace my inner bliss and allows me to be free to feel all the love around.

The Mole gave the west coast a sense of what they’re serving up at MUTEK in Montréal this year. He delivered the goods with what he does best starting with a wee bit of blues threading through his heavy layered disco house beats. He enjoys and feeds off the crowd with mutual admiration and love. I've been grinning all day from his spectacular performance and crowd shaking energy.

The MUTEK_10 Tour cruised through Toronto on Thursday and gave us a
great taste of what to expect at MUTEK in Montréal this May. Chile's
Pier Bucci delivered a superb set of rhythmic Latin infused techno.
Things really went off towards the end of his set with everyone
shaking their thing on the dance floor. Guillaume & The Coutu
Dumonts also known as half of Chic Miniature performed a funky
live percussion afro-beat house set. The Mole closed down the night
with a funky tech-house set that had everyone in the crowd busting a move.
Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts also tag teamed live with The Mole.
The two boys fed off each other and their good time and energy translated
on to the dance floor. Can’t wait for MUTEK Montréal at the end of May.
